Dreams: An ageless, timeless, formless toy

Dreams are God's idea of a toy,
An ageless,
timeless,
formless toy.

Be a day or night,
Eyes open or closed,
Dreams find their way.
Designed exclusively for the likes of a human,
The only toy meant for all;
the old, the young,
the strong, the meek.

For some it's a soothing ointment,
For others a permanent scar.

While some dream after falling,
Others fall upon dreaming.

For some it gives the energy to rise,
From others it takes away the will to strive.

It may act as our automatic healer,
But is also our own pain inflicting machine.

Happen what may it’s a toy all humans cling on to,
Play with it even if they don’t want to.

Through this toy we heal ourself, we hurt ourself,
Its functions depend entirely on us.

Its excellence is to our credit,
Its malfunctioning more so.

It comes with no guarantee,
It comes with no insurance,
Yet we use it more than sparingly,
Not knowing where it will lead us.

Oh, look at the this cunning creation by God,
This double edged sword in disguise,
It will remain as long as humans exist,
This ageless, timeless, formless toy.
